The Illinois Community College Board is hosting a webinar series on Hyflex & Online Instruction for Early Childhood Educators. Participate in the webinar series to increase capacity in delivering high-quality online or Hyflex Early Childhood Education (ECED) courses; explore techniques for instructional design that promote community building and connection, brain-friendly online classroom climates, and strategic teaching.

The May 10th webinar focuses on the Materials Selection. Discover practical strategies for matching materials and methodologies to promote autonomy and create impactful learning experiences. Materials selection encompasses everything from selecting the right tech tools to identifying strong e-texts to understanding Universal Design as an instructional framework. We’ll also explore how fostering self-efficacy and autonomy can significantly boost learner engagement.

After participating in this webinar series, faculty will be able to:

•  Integrate Best Practices in Instructional Design into instruction and assessment, creating online content that aligns with best practices

•  Assess various instructional components and select optimum strategies for course objectives, content, and format

•  Develop assessments that align with course learning outcomes to facilitate confirmation of overarching program learning outcomes

UNITE HERE Chicago Hospitality Institute (UHCHI) is a partnership between the UNITE HERE Local 1 Labor union and hotels and food service employers in the Chicago area. UHCHI is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) institution and labor-management/Taft-Hartley training fund serving and providing training benefits to employers, the union, and its members. In response to the hospitality sector being one of the largest sectors in Chicago, UHCHI was designed to improve the Chicago area’s tourism and hospitality industry by increasing the skill level of its workforce.

Our mission is to up-skill incumbent hospitality professionals, build new talent for the hospitality industry, and place people into unionized career pathways through training programs that include registered apprenticeships. We recruit, train, and retain skilled employees and provide ongoing professional development and support to individuals in the Chicagoland area.

This is a two-part work training model, an incredibly fun and rewarding learning journey. With cutting-edge curricula, premier instructors, and close collaboration with area employers, the UHCHI Culinary Apprenticeship is the first and ONLY US Department of Labor registered apprenticeship program for the position of Chef de Partie in the State of Illinois. Upon completing the UHCHI apprenticeship program, graduates can move up the career ladder in high-quality hospitality jobs.
